Jimmy "Snake Charmer" Martinson leads the Flashes Hardballers to 8-1 home opener victory
The "Snake Charmer pitched 5 innings giving up one hit and three walks with nine strikeouts. Leading a thirteen hit Flash attack the "Charmer" helped his own cause with a two run single, an RBI double and a lead off double going 3 for four at the plate. Joining him in the extra base catagory were: Quentin "Mighty Q" Loftin (2-4) double, Clint "Rockie" Rockhill double, Jake Sunshine" Dewitt double and Stevie "G-Money" Giambrone (2-4) triple. Also getting two hits were Scott "Too Hott" Meridith and Cory "Stretch" Haluska. Clint "Rockie" Rockhill pitched the last two innings in relief of the "Snake Charmer" after he lost his bid for a no hitter. No problem, "Rockie" closed out the game giving up one run on three hits after a fluke lead off triple by City's Ken Pisa. This was the first regular season game played on the Flashes new field and the "Hardballers didn't dissapoint their fans as they pounded out thirteen hits (six for extra bases) and exploded for six runs in the second inning to pretty much put the game out of reach early. The win ups their record to 2-0 and first place in the Freedom Division. Yes. it's early in the season but the hardballers are looking pretty good under new head coach Joe Frappolli Jr.
